Having quickly forged its reputation as one of the most avant-garde and
experimental dance-theatre groups in Alaska, Pulse Dance Company proudly brought its second season to an exuberant close this
January at the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts.
Pulse’s
repertoire is widely varied in its composition, stylistic approach to movement, and scenography. The company has been acknowledged
for its intensely collaborative method of creation that has included artists Tonia Burrow, John Norris, Richard Smith, Jet
Tasker, Benjamin Ellis, Anthony Lee, Jono Ryan, Craig Updegrove, and Mesela Designs, among others. Pulse has enjoyed performing
at Tedx Anchorage, for Alyeska Pipeline, as contributing artists to Renegade Living, and as special guest artists. Members
of the company can be found instructing varying classes from Anchorage to Eagle River, and workshops and intensives are offered
in the spring and summer.
Pulse has been featured in several publications including
F Zine, the Northern Light, and heralded by the Anchorage Daily News as “…defiantly eclectic and organic.”
The company's mission is to nurture the art of dance, provide outlets within the
community for the creation and performance of dance, and to collaborate with artists of varying art forms.
Pulse boasts a distinct voice that is ever-evolving based on forward thought, creativity, innovation and excellence.
